Jewish life and not only in Greece / Εβραϊκή ζωή και όχι μόνο στην Ελλάδα

Jewrama (or Read this 1st)

So you arrived here for the first time and you’d like to see what the house offers. Instead of having to dig though past posts I propose here a series of posts that either I’m especially fond of, or in my humble opinion are good articles for those interested in Jewish Greeks. Don’t forget also to check out the links on your right too!

“The Jewish Cemetery of Thessaloniki and the new subway – a proposition”
A new subway is being build in Thessaloniki, in the same place where  the huge Jewish cemetery once stood. A proposition on the naming of one station.

Remembering
What the Holocaust/Shoah means for me.

“Jules Dassin – a “good” Jew”
What does it take a jew to be “good”?

“An interview to Alexis Tsipras/ Μια συνέντευξη στον Αλέξη Τσίπρα”
An interview to the youngest party leader of Greece.

“Burning Jews, niggers and gipsies”
The Burning of Judas during Greek Easter which is the “most familiar and widespread manifestation of traditional anti-Semitism in Greece.”

“Greek History Textbooks” and how the extermination of tendths of thousands of greek jews is simply ignored.

“The Jewish Cemetery of Thessaloniki” was a 3 long post entry which dealt extensively with the destroyed by the Thessaloniki Municipality during WW2. It also has some photos which had not appeared on the web till now, plus a homemade map base on GoogleMaps.

“Un Cavretico” was a dear song from my childhood sang during Pessach (Jewish Easter). To the best of my knowledge it’s the only place on the web which also has the ladino lyrics.

Τι σημαίνει “εβραίος”, “ισραηλίτης”, “ιουδαίος” και τι “ισραηλινός”
Μια ανάρτηση για το νόημα αυτών των όρων.

I must admit I shamelessly stole the idea from DeviousDiva’s blog but I won’t tell her of you won’t. :)
